After our brief round of snow in early January, temperatures have been unusually mild in Asheville, NC. In our neighborhood, families have been able to enjoy our outdoor facilities and amenities. However, cold air has returned and snow is falling in our area yet again. Nevertheless, there is plenty of fun activities for families in the Asheville, Fletcher, and Arden areas.

In this article, we will talk about five great winter activities for families and children in Asheville:

1) Asheville Area Museums of Art, Science, and Pinball

Asheville, NC is renowned for its array of outdoor activities; however, our city also plays hosts to a great museum scene:

Asheville Museum of Art: For families and children, the art museum has numerous activities including: afterschool education programs, family-oriented art exhibitions, and hands-on creative art activities.

Asheville Museum of Science: The science museum has more fun for children than could be experienced in a single day. From hands-on learning exhibits to the Little Explorers club, the science museum is winter fun for all ages.

Asheville Pinball Museum: Unique to the Asheville area, the pinball museum features a perfect mix of education and fun.

2) Asheville Area Trampoline Parks

Sometimes the family just needs to exercise and burn energy. Sky Zone and Launch trampoline parks are the answer for family winter madness. Neither park is far from Wellington Estates, and the kids will have so much fun they will not even care that they are building their physical fitness.

3) Asheville Tree Top Adventures and Navitat Zipline Canopy Adventures

There are two great zipline courses in Buncombe County, Asheville Tree Top Adventures and Navitat Zipline Canopy Adventures. Either bundle the kids up, or wait till its mild, and make sure you take the opportunity to enjoy these great adventures.

4) Asheville’s Fun Depot

Fun Depot has been a family-fun mainstay for many years. Convenient to Wellington Estates, Fun Depot has indoor and outdoor fun for all ages. When the kids are restless, Fun Depot will help them forget the cold altogether.

5) Get the Kids Outside

It is entirely too beautiful in Asheville to stay inside all winter. There are hundreds of hikes and dozens of greenway trails to take advantage of during winter. Your children will hardly notice the cold when they are running and playing outdoors. See some waterfalls in Brevard, high peaks along the parkway, or enjoy the river and playgrounds at Carrier Park. For older children, test out your disc golf skills at Enka or Richland Hills.

There is plenty of neighborhood fun to be found here at Wellington Estates. Grab your neighbors and let the kids play on the playground all year long.
